Keep Your Teeth Healthy & White

I love coffee and I love wine. Both are known to stain teeth pretty badly. So does soda, tea and smoking. If you love your caffeine as much as I do there’s some easy ways to keep those pearly whites glowing. Some of us have naturally great looking teeth or have had cosmetic dentistry work done. Either way these tips are bound to keep your choppers bright and they don’t take time or money. Just a few changes of habit.

Go bold and use a bright shade of lipstick and liners. The color contrast will make your teeth look many shades brighter when compared to the bold color on your lips. Deep reds and purples are wonderful. Bronze tones may tend to accentuate yellowing so test carefully and look at the contrast in both natural daylight and indoors.

The most extreme advice here? If you smoke and you are looking to keep your smile intact, well stop. Yes it’s easier said than done I know however the earlier you stop smoking the longer your teeth will be white and not to mention those little lines smokers tend to get around their mouths where the lips meet. Seriously do I have to tell you to stop smoking just for your smile’s sake?

Jump back in time and use a straw with your colas and iced coffees at home. We do it when we’re eating out so why not at home? Those staining beverages will bypass your teeth altogether and you’ll have fun too. Get a crazy straw and have a ball with your inner child.

Eat foods that naturally clean and whiten your teeth like apples and carrots. They require you to chew and even force you to use the teeth you wouldn’t normally use on foods you eat with a fork. Green vegetables like spinach actually help create a film on your teeth (don’t worry it’s not green) that help prevent future staining.

My favorite whitening routine is the strawberry paste treatment. Smash a few fresh strawberries in a shallow bowl and rub the pulp on your teeth. Leave it on for a bit – like two to three minutes at the most and brush it off completely. Rinse well and wow! Brighter teeth and it tastes good! You may want to floss those seeds out too.

Last but not least you can opt for whitening strips or pastes. I’ll follow up with a few I’ve tried and have seen some good results. They aren’t as painless or hassle free as they would like you to think but after a few weeks you can clearly see good results.

So there they are – no cost, easy teeth-whitening solutions you can do, like, now!
