We’re getting back to business here at MTG. Stay tuned. We’re clearing out the old and revamping the blog / site to better serve our readers and friends. If you have any suggestions, please send them my way and I’m looking forward to reviewing and writing again!

Plans are underway for the “local neighborhood” mighty pharmacy chain CVS to get into the high-end cosmetics business. I’ve strolled through the cosmetics aisle in many a CVS and have picked up everything from the latest Revlon offering to nail files to Chapstick but never did I think they’d get into the real cosmo space. CVS confirms they are going to open stores on the West and East coasts adjacent to existing CVS’s that carry 32+/- lines of high-end cosmetics & some fragrances. The stores (at least 2 confirmed) will be called “Beauty 360″. Of course they decline at this time to say which brands. So what do you think? Are they in the market to take some market share from ULTA & Sephora? It’s no wonder our friends at our most trusted brands are limiting distribution and opening their own boutiques and charging list prices. Soon you’ll be able to get Hard Candy, Benefit and MAC at the corner deli!
I’m exaggerating of course but there may be a silver lining here. More availability of product, better prices and store-exclusive freebies. This may not be a bad idea after all. CVS does have some serious buying power. I’m dying to know who the 32 are! Any inside info you want to share? Post a comment & tell us!

Wow it’s been such a while since my last post. This Summer has been blowing by! Well I’m keeping busy as you may have guessed and always trying something new… which brings me to this: PURE Skin Care AHA/BHA Lipo Serum. I know, way technical name there but don’t be afraid girls. A local esthetician friend of mine has a line of fantastic products that I had to check out. Because I regularly exfoliate as needed and always worried about irritation, I asked about protecting my “good” skin.
The PURE Skin Lipo Serum is a clear lotion, fragrance free and comes in a 1 oz. pump dispenser (you know how much that is important to me because of contaminants!). 1 pump applied to the face and let it dry. That’s it. Then moisturize as you would normally.
It contains antioxidants- vitamins a, B5, C and E. All to help strengthen skin cells to fight against aging (free radical damage) and moisturizer which plumps up the skin by increasing moisture uptake. Sodium Hyaluronate- known as a moisture binding ingredient able to hold up to 180 times its weight in water.
AHA/BHA - an active blend of natural multi fruit acids, This natural blend weakens the connective tissue holding dead cells together for an overall smoother skin, while maximizing cell renewal, and minimizing irritation.
There’s an entire line of PURE products including mineral makeup. So far I’ve been very happy with the results to date. Here’s their official site. Be sure to tell them MissTrendyGirl sent ya!
I love Target. It’s a step above Wal*Mart and it’s always clean and organized. At least where I live. I’ve heard horror stories so I can only imagine. Anyway WWD is reporting that Target stores have struck a deal with a few well known artists to bring their products to the masses…
Makeup artists Jemma Kidd, Napoleon Perdis and Petra Strand have signed on to collaborate with the retailer to bring out more affordable and slightly different versions of their existing prestige lines for the Target beauty shopper.
When a major retailer realizes their target market (pun intended!) isn’t the stereotype discount shopper I’m an instant fan. Target has a history of great partnerships with designers and the like which has worked out very well for them. If you see these in your local Target before I do let me know how they are. Look for them around the end of August and happy shopping!
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend. It was very pleasant here in NY and a three day weekend always comes in handy. Of course when it leads into the unofficial start of Summer with a rather uncomfortable, humid day - I know the hair goddesses aren’t smiling down on me or my clients. To top it off, I cut in bangs this weekend. Less hair, more frizz. There’s no product in the world that could completely solve that. But my wonderful husband, who loves nothing more than baking in the sun on the beach while it’s 90+ degrees and in 100 percent humidity, bit his tongue and turned on the air conditioner for me. That’s the only cure for the curls and ‘poofiness’ I’ve found.
So what’s with the humidity that makes your hair such a chore? Well water is an essential part of your hair’s chemical makeup. When it’s humid out your hair shaft will swell as a result of absorbing and retaining water. When it’s dry out, your hair shaft actually shrinks (and yes it is actually shorter). How can you control it? Well the best I can say is stay indoors or just work with it. Leaving your hair longer during the humid months can help weigh it down which only slightly helps with the poofs but it helps. Frizz control products used in moderation can work but be careful - too much can flatten your hair and make it look greasy. Last resort? How about spending a little time in the morning and putting that hair up in a ponytail, an up-do or even get some trendy hair accessories for the occasion. Personally I love chopsticks. Twist, curl and stick to hold!
I love a great lathering in the shower. I mean who doesn’t? Add the little moisturizing goodness of oil and you have Caress’ new line of Brazilian Body washes. They smell absolutely beautiful and exotic and add great moisture to the body. The body wash is a unique fusion of cream and oil with a blend of sweet passion flower and acai fruit oil.

It silkens the skin as well as leaves you with a beautiful healthy sheen. Not like some other body washes that leave you feeling greasy or oily. It also has a very rich consistency making it glide on smoothly while it enlivens your entire body. After your bath or shower you can apply moisturizer if necessary without feeling over moisturized at all. Another great find for the girl looking to bring the spa to her own shower!

Back in the saddle with a desk full of product just waiting to be opened and what did I choose as my first review? Good In Bed skin restoring night moisturizer by Prescriptives leaves you with the “morning after” glow. Of course I was drawn to this product by its risque name and was completely “satisfied” with the results. It is simply a multi purpose, luxurious treatment. The nourishing emollient helps replenish skin while subtle tanners work to enhance your natural colors. The scent is pleasant and my skin felt completely soft and moisturized in the morning. After a few days use I found I was using less makeup because my face was slightly tanned with a very natural look. A great product with great results. Hey with a very little effort you could be Good in Bed too!

I’ve been enjoying the baby for the past two weeks since he’s been home but I must admit some beauty withdrawal. I simply love and adore him and want to spend as much time with him and my family but duty calls. Today is Junior Prom day and I have a few girls who must have their hair and makeup done so it’s back to business. Figures I would book my first back to work clients on prom night. Not too much pressure!
I have a stack of product I’m meaning to get to and share my reviews so stay tuned. I’m putting up a new poll later today I hope you will vote in. I’m looking to attract more visitors and feedback and was hoping to get some help from you all. I already belong to a few fun networks but I really must say, as a working Mom of 3 and full-time homemaker, just keeping up with my own blog is a lot of work. I love being a part of such networks like the Mom Blog Network and thebeautyblognetwork (links below) but just keeping up with those is difficult. So in order to keep myself involved and interested in blogging I’m looking for some reader feedback. I don’t want this to be a job - I want it to be fun and of course profitable for both you and me. There are so many awesome blogs out there with a ton of content and reviews that I’m working on a different angle. Something a little more engaging and hopefully intriguing!
So, I’ve fallen in love again with my littlest guy and looking to fall in love again with my MissTrendyGirl blog. Hope you’ll help!
The baby has arrived and we are both doing well. I am very much looking forward to getting back to work in the next few weeks as there is much to be done. I have many new products, tools and tricks to share so I will be very busy trying and typing away! I would like to thank all who have sent me and my family well wishes at this exciting time. I am lucky to be part of such a caring community!
Well this is the end of the road. Any day now we expect him to arrive. It’s been a great pregnancy and thanks for all the positive wishes and patience while we’re in the home stretch here. I use the term “stretch” because there is no way I can possibly stretch anymore! I’ve been quiet on the posting front for a while since there’s just nothing creative lately coming from my brain. I’m just enjoying the last few hours/days of being pregnant. I still get up everyday and enjoy my beauty routine more than ever. Of course there’s a few more added steps and the additional 10-15 minutes I need to spend on it because I’m too exhausted to move some mornings. The sleep deprivation really starts to kick in after a few days. I’m not really complaining at all and I am so lucky I can take the extra time. So I do and make sure I am in “full pregnancy glow” all day long.
Above all, there’s one heavenly product that I must share for all the Mommies and Mommies to be out there. Palmer’s Just for Moms Skin Care Gift Set is one of the best things you can receive at a shower or just for being a Mommy. Let me tell you this kit is wondrous. First of all, big, stretched bellies (sounds painful huh?) need lots of comfort and the cocoa butter soothing oil is relief in liquid form. Spray it on and the itchiness, dryness and topical pain melts away. It is that good. The cream and lotion for the stretch marks is soothing and pleasant too. I’m sure any good hydrating cream or lotion will help with stretch marks if you encounter any but you know how I love to layer and stay scent-coordinated!

So, any day now. Wish me luck and hopefully in the very near future this Mommy will be getting some much needed beauty rest. Let’s hope he’s a sleeper!
